Two Family House is a modern coastal home built by ConstruktCLT in collaboration with Rundell Associates. Set into the cliffside at Mawgan Porth in Cornwall, the house was designed for two families and shaped to sit low in the landscape, preserving views of the coastline and protecting the natural surroundings. We installed a prefabricated CLT frame above a base made from locally sourced Cornish stone, combining precision with sustainability. A total of 427 CLT panels were used, allowing for a fast, accurate and efficient build with minimal waste. Natural materials continue throughout the interior, with timber, stone and clay plaster creating a warm and textured atmosphere. A curved CLT staircase sits beneath a circular skylight, bringing in daylight and fresh air. The original tiered garden was carefully preserved and enhanced, supporting local wildlife and helping the house settle naturally into its setting. This project reflects our commitment to delivering high quality, low carbon timber construction on complex and sensitive sites.
