In celebration of modern nursing, Bowles & Wyer integrated innovative bio-based building materials within a hospital garden design at the 2021 Chelsea Flower Show.

Douglas Fir CLT was used in the construction of a pergola, nodding to Florence Nightingale’s work in advocating for the use of natural materials in hospital construction to promote healing and wellbeing.

The Florence Nightingale Garden will soon be implemented at St Thomas’ Hospital in London to create a permanent healing garden. A 60 foot timber pergola will span the length of the garden to enclose it on three sides and form the central feature.
